European Sea Ports Organisation (ESPO) reaffirms support for GreenPort Cruise & Congress 2018

Key industry bodies support GreenPort Cruise & Congress 2018, due to take place in Valencia, Spain, 16-19 October 2018.

August 2018 Fareham UK – Mercator Media Ltd, organiser of the highly regarded GreenPort Congress and Cruise Conferences, is pleased to announce support from major organisations in the port community including The European Sea Ports Organisation (ESPO), Baltic Ports Organisation, Cruise Europe, The International Association of Ports and Harbors (IAPH), International Windship Association (IWSA), MedCruise and VDR. ESPO is the principal interface between European seaports and the European institutions and their policy makers.

ESPO, who have been a supporter from the inaugural GreenPort Congress represents the port authorities, port associations and port administrations of the seaports of 23 member states of the European Union and Norway at EU political level. Isabelle Ryckbost, Secretary General – ESPO, said, “Greenport has proved over the years to be an excellent opportunity to exchange best practices and reflect on upcoming challenges among environmental port managers and experts. For ESPO, the members of the sustainable development committee and our EcoPorts network, it is definitely an event not to be missed”, This meeting takes place after the close of GreenPort Cruise on day one.

This year’s host port, Valenciaport is Spain’s leading Mediterranean port, in terms of commercial traffic, due to its dynamic area of influence. Known as the ‘maritime gateway’ for production and consumer goods to and from the entire Iberian Peninsula, the port also offers extensive network connections to major world ports including America and North Africa. Valenciaport connects 1,000 ports throughout the world and moves 40% of Spanish import and export trade

The programme for the 2018 conference has now been launched. Titled ‘Profiting from Green Initiatives’, the conference will explore the ways in which costs associated with implementing compliance strategies can be reduced and benefit players across the ports sector.
