Keynote by value creation experts next week at Fish Waste for Profit Conference 2019
Matís will deliver keynote address at Fish Waste for Profit 2019, 10-11 April.
Taking place in Reykjavik, Iceland, the Fish Waste for Profit Conference will welcome Matís, a science and knowhow community based on strong infrastructure and collaboration, to the 2019 conference as a keynote speaker.
Matís is Iceland’s leadings research, development and testing organisations working in the global food industry. Their expertise in all areas is applied to research, within commercial partnerships and is also available as a service to business, government agencies and private individuals directly.
Hordur G. Kristinsson, the Chief Science and Innovation Officer, will be speaking on behalf of Matís and will cover the ‘development of by-product utilisation in Iceland’. Kristinsson is an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Florida and Courtesy Professor at the University of Iceland and holds over 20 years’ experience working in the food, biotech and functional ingredient industry, with extensive commercial and research expertise in the production of various products and ingredients.
The 2019 Fish Waste for Profit Conference will welcome speakers from around the globe who are ready to deliver both knowledgeable and insightful presentations to delegates. Speakers include Húni Jóhannesson, Specialist in Corporate Finance - Arctica Finance, Katrin Petursdottir, Managing Director, Lysi and Amanda Ingram, Sector Manager - Bioeconomy, Zero Waste Scotland. The conference will be chaired by Dr Thor Sigfusson, Founder & Chairman - Iceland Ocean Cluster.
The programme focuses on 'Striving for 100% utilisation' and will cover a range of topics including:
- Leading by example – the Icelandic by-product reutilisation industry
- Prospects for by-product reutilisation across the globe
- Innovations in processing technology
- Funding the future
The conference will conclude with a technical visit to Haustak, a Codland company and the largest fish drying business in Iceland. Founded in 1999, the company is owned by Vísir hf. and Thorbjorn hf.
