Coastlink 2022: Maximise the utilisation and potential of shipping networks




March 2022 Fareham UK – Taking place at the Port of Antwerp, Belgium from 11-12 May 2022, the Coastlink Conference is set to welcome a host of speakers offering insight, knowledge, and expertise discussing the latest in short sea and feeder shipping, plus intermodal transport routes. The 2022 conference, titled ‘Building Connectivity: Short sea shipping and intermodal networks' will cover a range of themes including ‘Market Sector Overview: Industry Challenges and New Opportunities for Short Sea & Feeder Shipping’, ‘Building Connectivity & Networks for the future – linking Short Sea & Feeder Shipping to Intermodal Transport Routes’ and ‘Looking to the future – Improving efficiencies through Digitalisation & Innovation'.

Throughout the one and a half days of presentations and panel discussions, delegates will learn from industry leading voices, including a keynote address from Nils Minor, General Manager, Sales West & Central Europe, Unifeeder A/S and an opening address from the Port of Antwerp. The conference will also welcome Catrien Scheers, winner of the 2021 Maritime Award. A passionate leader in the short sea shipping and logistics sector, Catrien was given the honour of Maritime Figure 2021 by the European Shipping Press Association (ESPA). She is the first woman since 1986 to solely receive the award. Bringing her passion for sustainability and all things short sea to the Coastlink Conference, Catrien will address the challenges and opportunities for short sea services and highlight how shipping can contribute to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

The conference programme includes engaging panel discussions in each session and will welcome speakers from across the industry including: John Lucy, Director – Liverpool Freeport, Liverpool City Region Combined Authority who will discuss 'Post Brexit Ro Ro Rebound-disrupting supply chain geography' followed by Lieve Duprez, Chief Shortsea Officer at the Port of Zeebrugge who will highlight 'Zeebrugge's shortsea shipping sustained by a vast state of the art railway network' and Raoul Tan, Director at Naviporta, Port of Rotterdam who will cover 'Making the port and international trade flows smarter and more efficient'. In the afternoon of Day 2, delegates and speakers will also have the chance to experience a Technical Visit at the Port of Antwerp, taking in a tour of the Short Sea Shipping terminal and gaining an insight into the intermodal operations at the port.
