Keynote Panel: The Cost of Decarbonisation & Who is going to pay – this session included: Chairman Lars Robert Pedersen, Deputy Secretary General, panellist: BIMCO; Dr. Harry Conway, Chair, The Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC), IMO; Annika Kroon, Head of Unit D1 Maritime, Transports & Logistics, European Commission; Simon Bennett, Deputy Secretary General, International Chamber of Shipping; Dr. Markus Münz, Managing Director, VDMA Large Engines, and Wolfram Guntermann, Director Regulatory Affairs, Hapag-Lloyd AG the opening this panel began with a ship operator praising a fragmented regulatory regime and a regional regulator hoping for a harmonised global framework.

The Solutions for 2030 - Oskar Levander, Kongsberg Maritime, delivered a presentation on Taking efficiency to the next level for large cargo vessels: The case study highlighted how both operational and design factors would need to evolve for lower carbon shipping.

Safety Challenges for New Technology – Gisle Anderssen, VP Sales and Marketing, Vard Electro, discussed how integrating power systems with alternative fuels achieved optimal energy efficiency on modern wind service operation vessels.

Motorship Award contenders & Winner Announcement – Janne Pohjalainenm Global Product Line Manager, ABB delivered the ABB Marine & Ports’ Dynafin which replicates the motion of a whale’s tail to deliver dramatic improvements in propulsion efficiency compared to conventional thrusters.

LNG Beyond Transition - Captain Michael Behmerburg, Global Fuel Purchasing, Director Green Fuels, Hapag-Lloyd AG, revealed that the company plans in investing significantly in gas fuelled feeder vessels.

Beyond fuels - there was time on the second day of the conference to learn more about ammonia, methanol, hydrogen, lubrication and retrofit.
