Mercator joins Reel Masters

Reel Masters has announced a partnership with Mercator Media to produce the UK’s Largest Saltwater & Predator Angling Show and Competition.

Reel Master’s is the UK’s first exhibition and competition held for saltwater and lure anglers. This angling community have long-awaited a show catering to the needs of the near one million anglers in the UK and beyond, bringing together everything they need in one place. The Reel Masters Show will have exhibitors from across the angling industry, family friendly events, live music, local food, Introduction to Angling experiences, and on the water competitions.

The choice of Weymouth is ideal. It has a historic fishing community combined with the benefit of easy access to bountiful and challenging waters.

Reel Masters is both on the land and sea, and is for everyone fanatical about fishing whether enthusiast, semi-professional or pro. It will be a dynamic experience for the whole family – a fishing festival - with demonstrations, competitions and charter boat fishing experiences for all those interested in having a go! There is also a branded boat challenge for professional fishing teams so visitors can watch and meet with some of Europe’s finest fishermen and women.

Kayak Angler of the Year competition KAOTY’s The Reel Masters event is part of the important KAOTY UK series with their first ever saltwater event, with the overall winner gaining an entry into the Hobie Fishing Worlds. This lure-only, catch and release competition will be held on the Saturday of Reel Masters.

Mercator Media is a long-established media company focusing on maritime and the sea. It brings experience producing leading exhibitions like Seawork and Icelandic Fisheries, also conferences such as Coastlink and more. Sea Angling contributes over £1.5bn to UK Economy

Around 800,000 or 1.6% of UK adults went sea angling at least once a year, fishing for a total of 7 million days. On average, anglers spent over £1,000 per year on their sport, resulting in a total economic impact of sea angling of between £1.5 to £2 billion. This provided around £350 million of Gross Value Added (GVA) and supported around 15,000 jobs when indirect effects are included.
